White Balance
White balance is the same meaning as colour balance. What it does is it tells the camera how white the image should look like so the camera will record it correctly. Since white colour is the sum to all other colours the camera will then display all the other colours correctly.
Most consumer level camcorders have an auto white balance feature and this is how most amatuers operate.
How to perform it:
1. You hold up a sheet of paper and the camera will work out if it has the correct colour cast and if not it will automatically correct itself. The colour cast may be too Blue or too Green so the camera will help give itself a more natural look.
2. You get the colour gels out( The colour gels will fool the camera for example Orange paper will make a Blue image whereas Blue paper will make an Orange image.
3. You can use the colour cast to create a special effect.
