What is an audience? An audience is an individual or collective group of people that consume any type of media text or product e.g magazine, film, tv, etc

Why are audiences important? They are important because they give the media studio the profit they want by paying money to buy their product.

The impact of new technology on audiences: Audiences are now fragmented because old media is now competing with new media and the audiences targeted are very different from each other. For example, old people read the news in the papers more often and younger people access it online.

Types of audiences: Mass audience is very mainstream and made for a much larger group of people so therefore it can gain more money whereas niche has a very specific type of audience that wouldn't appeal to everyone.

Psychographics: Personalty types.

Demographics. They are gender, age, Nationality, regionality and socio economic group.
